About Me

Hi, I'm Lorraine. I’m a North Wales artist & oil painter with a lifelong love of drawing. In my paintings, I strive to capture the beautiful effects of light in quiet moments to allow us to take a pause from our busy days & reconnect with the beauty of life & nature that surrounds us. Life can be so busy that it’s easy to stop seeing all there is to be grateful for. When I paint, it reminds me to be grateful. My hope is that my work will give you joyful, quiet moments of seeing beauty even in the mundane & everyday.

I have always loved art, & I was very fortunate to study Fine Art with Bangor University from 2003 to 2006, an incredibly valuable experience for which I will always be grateful. After a less positive stint at another university, I chose to pursue my art practice independently, joyfully & privately for many years. I was regularly encouraged to show my work publicly, & I finally took the plunge in 2024. I now love to exhibit my work, as I love to hear how it makes people feel.

When someone shares that a piece resonates with them or sparks an emotion, it feels incredibly fulfilling. When someone decides that they want to live with my artwork & make it a part of their everyday lives, it is so rewarding and gives me a wonderful sense of purpose & connection.

Where It Began

Why I Paint

As well as painting, I'm also drawn to the tactile nature of clay. Combining this with my love of drawing, I also handmake ivory earthenware clay tiles & carve drawings of my favourite creatures into them. They have been so popular that, as well as limited edition giclee prints of some of my oil paintings, I now also have black & white limited edition giclee prints & coloured open edition giclee prints of these tiles available.

Not Just Original Paintings

When I’m not at my easel or playing with clay, I can often be found chilling by the sea or exploring the wilds of the UK with my husband, daughter & our little whippet in our beloved old campervan.

I also enjoy fibre arts, yoga, walking, kayaking, skating, tea & relaxing with a good book.
